Local Harvest connects farmers and communities directly, listing locations community farmers’ markets, local food restaurants, farms and orchards are in your town or city area. Dakota Honey is a great local honey producer in the Dakotas. Rick’s Picks is a Hudson Valley-harvested produce pickle in a variety of surprising brines, with snappy spices and overall fantastic flavor. Cato Corners Farmstead Cheese (mmm...cheeeese) is an absolutely DELICIOUS product! If you're in NYC, check out their Greenmarket calendar under the shop heading. Houston Dairymaids Cheese & Specialty Foods (mmm...cheese again) is local if you live in the Austin, Texas area. You've got one more thing to feel proud about (as if you need another, I know your Texas pride)! "Wildman" Steve Brill is a naturalist, wild-food forager extraordinaire...I think he should run for president! Salemme Pepper folks are super! And if you don't have the time to dry and grind your own hot peppers, this is your local answer. Based in Connecticut, it really is superb red pepper flake. Bountiful Gardens is an excellent seed source. Blue Moon Fish, if you're in the hood, is one of THE places to get your seafood. Period. The Southern Bulb Company, for Southern aesthetes, is amazing. These guys are resourceful and environmentally conscientious and are saving heirloom bulbs from extinction. Pretty cool, right? Tremblay Apiaries, if you're in the tri-borough area is INCREDIBLE honey. Try the linden blossom!
